ABOUT OVERLOOK PORTUGUESE WATER DOGS

We have been involved in Portuguese Water Dogs for over 20 years. Through the journey, we have been blessed with the love of many precious dogs and the people who love them. We believe in the complete dog, one that is a part of our breed standard and can do what they were bred to do, work in the water as they did on the Portuguese Fishing Boats. All of our dogs have worked in conformation (show ring), Water Work (designed to replicate the jobs Portuguese Water Dogs did on the fishing boats), Agility, Obedience and Rally. Our puppy owners have also ventured into Barn Hunt, Scent Work, Lure Coursing and Fast Cat. We breed to preserve the Portuguese Water Dog. In addition, we work with the recommendations of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America to aid in our breeding to help assure that the known hereditary illnesses are not passed down to our puppies. Personally, we are members of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America, the Columbus Kennel Club, the USSPWD (local sanctioned PWD Club) and various other training clubs. I have served on the boards of all these clubs, and have worked in all aspects of the sport of Pure Bred Dogs.
This a breed which we truly love and hope to see it continue in the future as the robust, strong, spirited, intelligent dog of the past. We welcome all to become a part of the Overlook family through the Portuguese Water Dog.
